Avoid the salespeople in red jackets outside the Opera House. A lot of people brought a folding chair to sit on while in line. It can get warm in the building, especially in the standing room area. The middle ground floor standing tickets are 4 euros, while the standing upper balcony tickets are 3 euros. **Bring CASH in euros** You can’t pay with credit card. The box office opens 80 minutes before the start. Then 2 hours before they open the door and you wait in queue indoors. The ticket office for the Standing Area is on the west side of the building, kind of midway, and under the eaves. Most recommend 2 hour before the opera starts. Don’t worry about losing your spot, if you marked it with your scarf.

You then have to take your bag and coat to cloakroom (which is free of charge. After everyone is situated the attendant tells everyone to use their scarves to tie to the middle railing.
